GENTLE YOGA HOSHIARPUR
Gentle Hatha yoga, explained simply
Hatha yoga is a slow, grounded practice built on postures, breath and relaxation. Each movement is held gently, at your own pace, so you can feel your body settle and your mind slow down. It is a natural place to start if you are new to yoga or simply want a calmer way to move.
Here in Hoshiarpur city, Punjab, India, we teach Hatha yoga for people who want a gentle start. You do not need any flexibility to begin. Every class is adapted to the people in the room, with simple alternatives for each posture and plenty of time to rest whenever you need it.
What makes it gentle
- A slow pace, led by the breath, so movement never feels rushed.
- Postures that meet you where you are, with easier options always available.
- Suitable for beginners and older adults who want steady, comfortable practice.
What a gentle Hatha class feels like
You arrive, take off your shoes, and find a mat. There is no rush and no lineup of people already stretched into impossible shapes. Most people in the room are new too, and the first few minutes are simply about settling in: putting down your bag, sitting for a moment, and noticing how your body feels after the day you have had.
The class begins slowly with easy movement and breath. We warm up joints and muscles gently, then move into standing and seated postures held at a comfortable pace. Each posture is explained before we move into it, so you know what to do and why. The teacher shows the shape, talks you through it, and offers alternatives for every position, whether you want more support, less depth, or a simpler version altogether.
You can rest at any time, and resting is part of the practice.
Nothing is forced. If a posture feels like too much, you stop, come into child's pose, and breathe until you are ready again. Many people find that this permission to slow down is the most useful part of the hour.
The class closes with a long, quiet relaxation. You lie down, let the room go still, and let the practice settle before you get up again. If you have questions about what to expect, you can read our beginner FAQ or email us before your first visit.
